The charm thats Mike Mignola - Beehive Kickstarter for Pinocchio met its funding goal in 15 minutes

Mike Mignola needs no introduction. I have been a huge fan of his work ever since I tripped upon the magnificence thats Hellboy. Hellboy opened up my eyes to the giant of the industry that comic books are. Its not just the commercial aspect but the multitude of art and artists that are out there pouring. To have created a name in comics is an achievement all by itself, one that Mignola has made all too many times.

First it was Hellboy and the art and soon after that it became an obsession with Mignola's work, his signatures, the scary and the grotesque, the finest architecture in the background of a hideous creature, the tricks of light and shadow, it was like an intoxication that I could never get enough of.

About a month ago there was news about Beehive Books planning to launch a kickstarter campaign for their latest adventure, Pinocchio, the classic story told by Mike Mignola and Lemony Snicket, the genius behind "A Series of Unfortunate Events". Everyone was excited for Mignola's art and Lemony Snicket's story telling. It was finally revealed that the kickstarter would go live on March 15 2023. Everybody in the Mignola fan community had been talking about this and was riled up. Check out Beehive Books, they're a genius venture, bringing novelty in printing, and in their own words, "imagine beloved texts in brand new ways".

The below picture is a capture of the famous "Illuminated Editions" series, all of their titles so far totaling 10 in number.

So the kickstarter launched with a goal of $50,000 in 35 days. Imagine how amazing and incredible it was when the funding was completed in around 15 mins since launch time and in 24 hours, they reached about 4 times their planned funding. They had a variety of offerings for each backing category from standard through numbered editions and the most exclusive of them all, lettered editions.

The crew behind the kickstarter campaign wrote "Our whole team at Beehive here is beside ourselves. We knew we were lucky enough to have a singularly magical project on our hands here, and we had high hopes going into this campaign... but we weren't expecting anything like this".

To me, thats the fan base that Mignola has. I find myself at the unforutnate juncture of not knowing the genius behind Lemony Snicket but that did not prevent me from celebrating Mignola.

Mike Mignola has been a wonderful author, full of support for publishing houses. He has been very vocal about comics and raising awareness for WCK efforts. He had been posting multiple times about this kickstarter campaign on his social media. I follow him on Instagram and saw all the stories and posts he was making about this kickstarter campaign.
