An old song restored to its full glory

I am a big fan of the collaboration, Sounds of Isha. This music band or collaboration, for the lack of a better word, is based on the concept of Nadha Aradhana, worshipping the divine through sounds. The internet credits them as a Musical ensemble and I think that's probably the best way to describe them. They have been active as a commercial name from around 2006 but their music should have definitely started way before that.

The Dhyanalinga Temple and the Isha Yoga Center at the foothills of the Velliangiri mountains in Coimbatore is an out of the world experience. Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev has inspired millions of followers across the world with his strong, undeniable discourses.

I recently heard this song "Ennappan allavaa, en thayum allavaa" but it was a very modern rendition embellished by drum work and guitar chords and I immediately recognized the signature. The rendition had "Sounds of Isha" painted all over it. The song was mesmerizing and I'd to listen to it again.

So I immediately came home and searched youtube and I found a video link to the Mahashivarathri festival 2021 at the Isha Yoga Center. This was a live performance by the singer Sandeep Narayan. You can find the video here. I have also embedded a link below with the thumbnail from youtube.

Now, lets look a little further into the actual song. This song is originally from the movie Nandanaar
celebrating the life of the revered Hindu saint, Nandanaar (the two links are different, one leads to the movie adaptation and the other is about the actual saint Nandanaar) who went on to become one of the 63 Naayanmaars in Tamil Shaivaite literary and devotional movement. The film role of Nandanaar was played by the legendary M M Dandapani Desikar who has sung more than 20 songs in the film.

It was amazing to see Isha Yoga recreate this song with its full glory, made better by the beautiful guitar chords and the sound of drums, adds a very meditative trance theme to the song. If you listen to the song, leave a comment how you liked it.
