Its no longer necessary to wait at the booking counter way ahead of the opening time. You can register at the site for free and start booking tickets at the click of a mouse. They charge a nominal fee for processing but believe me! Its definitely worth it rather than having to go out in the sun and wait in a long queue that gets longer as you get near the counter. Its safe, fast, easy and reliable. Recently, when i travelled in a train, i was surprised to see that almost 8/10 people had electronically booked their tickets. India's booming!
